    Synopsis: 

    Oscar nominee Danny Aiello will star in the world premiere of Susan Charlotte's The Shoemaker, to be presented Off-Broadway by Cause Celebrè at Theater Row's Acorn Theater, July 14-August 14, with an opening on July 24. Antony Marsellis will direct.

    Set in New York's Hell's Kitchen, the drama focuses on a shoemaker, an Italian Jew, on a devastating day that has become a turning point in American history. As each hour passes he confronts yet another part of his past, present and an uncertain future.

    July 26, 2011: The prospect of spending a recent sweltering evening in the company of Danny Aiello, who is starring in the title role of “The Shoemaker,” was discomfiting. After all, when last seen on a comparably scorching New York day, Mr. Aiello was the proprietor of Sal’s Famous Pizzeria in “Do the Right Thing,” and that didn’t turn out so well.
