Synopsis: Originally presented on television, this famous fairy tale has been re-fashioned and set to music by two great masters of the musical. The characters are given greater depth plus a more human quality, and it is only through Cinderella's faith in a miracle that allows her wish to go to the ball to come true. Musical highlights include "In My Own Little Corner", "A Lovely Night", "Do I Love You Because You're Beautiful?" and "Impossible". This season's production of Cinderella marks the Broadway premiere for the musical, which was written for television in 1957 by the legendary musical theatre duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II.

ASSOCIATED PRESS REVIEW:
"What’s this happening in Cinderella’s magical kingdom? Is that a challenge to absolute monarchy we hear amid the romance and dancing? My goodness, it is: There’s a demand for democracy. Children, there’s even a call for economic justice."

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER REVIEW:
"Given Hollywood’s determination of late to homogenize the entire classic fairy-tale canon into one long dour CGI battle saga, it’s a relief to see a show that softens its revisionist impulses within a warm embrace of sugar-frosted tradition."

VARIETY REVIEW:
"Watch out, “Wicked” witches, here comes “Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella,” a heavyweight contender for those precious audiences of little girls who attend the theater in princess gowns and glittery tiaras – faithful theatergoers who make regular pilgrimages to their beloved shows and get their mothers to buy them lotsa stuff at intermission."

NORTHJERSEY.COM REVIEW:
"The musical is chock-full of visual spectacle, including an airborne Fairy Godmother and a clever quick-change scene in which the raggedy Cinderella, a pumpkin and some mice are turned into a glamorous young woman and her transportation to the Prince's ball."
