"There is great ambition in Matthew Maguire’s drama “Wax Wings,” at the Wild Project, not least in its inquiry into scientific issues. The play, presented by the Creation Production Company, of which Mr. Maguire is co-artistic director, offers copious information about the dengue mosquito, the form of pneumonia known as SARS (severe acute respiratory syndrome) and the pressures that researchers endure from their backers. It also addresses conflicts between faith and rationality; the drive to reproduce and the impulse to resist it; and the relative merits of expediency and caution in a crisis. The debates, unfortunately, don’t end there. "
