A Life Stitched Together by 9/11 and the Holocaust

*By ERIC GRODE
Published: July 26, 2011

"The prospect of spending a recent sweltering evening in the company of Danny Aiello, who is starring in the title role of “The Shoemaker,” was discomfiting. After all, when last seen on a comparably scorching New York day, Mr. Aiello was the proprietor of Sal’s Famous Pizzeria in “Do the Right Thing,” and that didn’t turn out so well. "
