Opening Night: May 6, 2011

Show
Did He Like It?*
  Synopsis
Perfect Crime Off-Broadway

Modeled after radio programs of yesteryear, Radio Play gathers a group of actors, musicians and sound-effects artists to create a surreal sonic entertainment. Songs, stories and soundscapes collide in a comedic mash-up of non-temporal, quasi-political pop-cultural tropes.

Back to a Time (the ’80s) When Digital Was a Mere Dream

"Much of “Radio Play,” a formless jumble of dopey humor and loopy music, by Tommy Smith and the alt-comedy darling Reggie Watts, is performed in almost complete darkness. This places a higher premium on what we hear as opposed to on what we see — a shift in focus that, Mr. Watts’s considerable musical gifts notwithstanding, doesn’t always play to his strengths."
