VARIETY REVIEW:
"Depth of feeling, together with the wit of Miranda's lyrics, the playful dexterity of his rhymes, his dynamic score and a bunch of truly winning performances, make the show an uncalculated charmer."

NEW YORK DAILY NEWS REVIEW:
"Last night, In the Heights, a musical about a Latino New York neighborhood, opened on Broadway. Unfortunately, this show doesn't quite hit those earlier, headier heights."

THE NEW YORK POST REVIEW:
"There is no real plot, no true drama. Everyone is as cute as a litter of kittens. Without any lows, just how high can these sanitized In the Heights climb?"

AMNY REVIEW:
"Not even Mr. Rogers Neighborhood is so cheery as the colorful, multilingual quarters found in In the Heights, the Latin hip-hop musical valentine to the Washington Heights crowd outside the 191st Street subway stop and George Washington Bridge."

The day the CD was released, I purchased it. I have listened to the CD enough times to know Usnavi's raps inside and out. Everyday I start my day off at work with the music from this CD.
August 12th I finally got to see the show in person. I laughed, I cried, and I was amazed. The show was all I expected and even more. The cast was awesome and the live music was beyond belief.
This is a must see musical. Oh gosh if this ever makes
it to the big screen I see Oscar joining Tony!

This was one of the worse musicals i have ever seen! I took 3 of my friends and we all thought it was horrible. Besides the fact that I could barely understand what they were singing about or understand the Spanish that was being spoken, the dancing and story line were like a cheap version of Rent and other musicals. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MUSICAL!
The only reason I will remember this show is because it was that bad.....

Saw this Off-Broadway Last year-And loved it! Came back this year to see what the Broadway Run was going to be. Even more amazing than before. Love that THe fabulous Priscilla Lopez got a special number added. THe cast portrays a family, and truly projects that image on the stage. The dancing is energetic and fun-covering many Genres!
Great singing and dancing

This is a story about a Hispanic community in northern manhattan(the heights)and what is going on in their neighborhood. A beauty saloon, a car rental agency, and a local convenience store provide the setting for the music, the dancing, and action. Sure, the plot is simple, i.e. there's no place like home, and even when we leave or want to leave it, the people and memories might just keep us there. Add some love stories, a community matriarch,
and a hip-hop maestro and the interactions are dazzling. I liked the way so many different characters in the production each had a chance to shine by either singing or performing solo. What terrific dancing and singing! And the characters made you feel what it is like to live their lives.
We saw this off-broadway too and enjoyed it just as much the second time around.
See this show and you'll have a great time!

Just got back from seeing the Sunday matinee of this production and it really blew us away! Usnavy is amazing but we were in love with Vanessa. . wow! WHAT A VOICE KAREN OLIVO HAS! It's worth the ticket just to hear her sing "It Won't Be Long Now." Abuela's production number "Paciencia y Fe" is incredible. You HAVE to buy the soundtrack. . very memorable storyline and truly touching! Definitely worth the Tony Award! GO SEE THIS SHOW!

I did not want it to end! Absolutely LOVED it. (Javier Munoz played Usnavi instead of Lin-Manuel Miranda, and I thought he rocked! Even better!!) it gave you such a realistic look of living in Washington Heights and struggling and getting by. I would recommend seeing it! :D
