Synopsis: In telling the story of a high school romance between greaser Danny Zuko and wholesome Sandy Dumbrowski, this musical captures the rock 'n' roll spirit of the 1950s. The score includes the songs "Summer Nights," "Beauty School Dropout," "Look at Me, I'm Sandra Dee" and "We Go Together." Click here for tickets.
"How anything can be so perky and yet so bland is yet another mystery for the ages. It appears that the rest of the company was cast to keep the youngsters from looking bad in comparison."
"The most dismal thing about this Grease is that aside from the two discoveries plucked from a mediocre TV talent pool and thrust into this sorry walk-through, no-one appears to be trying very hard. Like the drag-queeny wig slapped on Sandy when she finally conforms to the cool-kid ethos by unleashing the bad-girl within to win Danny, it all seems somewhat counterfeit."
"Grease is the word on Broadway, again. And it's better than ever. The second major revival of this sweet, nostalgic show about high school life in 1959 opened last night at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Somehow it feels like a freshly minted hit: one part show, and two parts party where everybody's invited."
"Tackily produced and utterly lacking the sort of fun comic spark that the original production and certainly the movie possessed (though not the most recent Broadway revival in 1994), this is a Grease that only will be appreciated by young TV viewers who don't know any better."
I went to the show with my daughter and granddaughters..We all loved the show especially Ace Young...He was awesome as Kenickie...Greased Lightening dance segement was the best....The music and dancing kept us upbeat through the entire show....
Very Entertaining, especially after reading some of these reviews beforehand!

I went to see Grease in the Saturday matinee and loved it! Have I seen better made Broadway shows? yes Have I heard better singers? Yes. Luckily, I read these reviews before I went so I was not shocked that the play didn't follow the movie. But based on these reviews, I was scared to go! Well, I was pleasantly surprised! There was no cigarette smell, no cameras flashing - not even one. I thought Danny was great and a very good dancer. Laura ... read more
Osnes was on vacation, but the second runner-up in the reality show, the blonde Allie Schulz, was Sandy and she was great. She definitely held her own and her voice was amazing. The highlight truly was Taylor Hicks' performance. I always liked Taylor anyway, but I was shocked at how good he was not just vocally, but he was funny and really got into it. When he brought out his harmonica, the audience went wild. He even did the hand jive at the end! I wish he would have been in it more! I wish the story did follow the movie and include all of the songs. All in all, my whole party really enjoyed Grease and I definitely recommend it!
Much better than I thought it would be... Go Taylor Hicks!

This show was a lot better than I thought it was going to be! I bought tickets, even with the bad reviews of the show, but it was very entertaining. Taylor Hicks was PHENOMENAL, and the audience just loved him. I adored the new Danny, Derek Keeling... but I did not like the Sandy, Ashley Spencer, at all. Her voice was bad and her acting wasn't good. The rest of the cast is amazing though, especially Frenchy, Rizzo, Jan, Doody, and Roger. I would
definitely go see this! Go see it now while Taylor's in it!
\"The Worst Thing I could do\"

After being in "Grease" in high school, directing two productions of it at my local high school, seeing it when it was on Broadway with Rosie O'Donnell, I was excited to see it return to Broadway once again. My affinity for "Grease" started when I was thirteen and never seemed to leave until I saw this production. This production is not "one that I want." The chemistry between Danny and Sandy lacks. The set design is confusing regarding the
time. Rizzo was not effective as the character should be. Cha Cha should cha cha right off the stage and stay in the wings. The score itself is indeed timeless; however, the singers butchered the score to points where the trained ear squirmed in agony. Then there was the teen angel -- WHO WOULD EXPECT THE TEEN ANGEL TO DESCEND FROM AN ICE CREAM CONE?!! Ugghh.
I am a "hopelessly devoted" fan of "Grease", but seeing this production was "the worst thing I could do."
GREASE is a mixed bag.

This is a fine revival of GREASE, somewhat better than the original. MAX and LAURA from the TV reality show are good but in no way outstanding. What they have done, though, is provide a successful means of box office hype. I don't think the show is good enough to sustain its sellout status or high ticket price.
GREASE pokes good natured fun at the music of the '50's -- which is way-superior to today's pop music -- whereas THE JERSEY
BOYS offers the real thing. The trouble with GREASE is excessive familiarity. Been there, done that. However, if you think you'll enjoy GREASE chances are very good that you won't be disappointed.
A real sour note is the Actor's Fund AIDS collection. I don't think a collection for Sexually Transmitted Disease is appropriate and AIDS isn't the only one out there, but definitely Broadway's favorite. Boo, hiss!
New Danny and Sandy - Can\'t wait to see it again!!

I went to see this show this weekend with my husband and some friends and we had a great time!. The new Sandy and Danny (Derek Keeling and Ashley Spencer) had great chemistry onstage. Kirsten Wyatt was so much fun as Frenchie and I can't say enough about Janine Devita as Rizzo - she has a womderful voice and great moves!! Taylor Hicks as the Teen Angel was perfect in this part - he had the audience in the palm of his hands.
Although the story flow was a little sketchy, it appeared the cast interacted really well with each other especially during the finale and the band above the stage was really rocking it out. Superb energy throughout the show. I will go and see this again and again!! Beautiful intimate theatre.
misguided revival...oh boy!

Saw this on March break '08 on Broadway. Was a little disappointed because one of the leads was an understudy - not who we had expected from the tv show. It was good just the same. The kids knew the songs so they enjoyed it. I was going into the show wondering if they could pull it off. I thought they did a fantastic job, i wish i wasn't the only one that gave a standing ovation though but, they deserved it! Taylor Hicks was so good and Laura Osnes' voice is WOW! Max was alright.
