Synopsis: Evan Goldman has it all: He's popular, has the “perfect” family and lives in the world’s greatest city — New York. When his parents get divorced, he's forced to move with his Mom…to Indiana. Uprooted from his old life, he must maneuver his way through the minefield of high school to become part of the in crowd. 13 is a high-energy musical about growing up, dealing with change and learning that becoming who you want to be starts with discovering who you are.

Broadway Reviews

NEW YORK TIMES REVIEW:

"Youth isn’t only for the young, at least not as a marketable commodity in popular entertainment. On Broadway as in Hollywood, there will always be generation-crossing shows displaying fresh-fleshed things in hormonally induced states of agony and ecstasy."

ASSOCIATED PRESS REVIEW:

"Jason Robert Brown, the composer of "Parade" and "The Last Five Years," has created a lively, highly listenable score, played by a band of excellent teenage musicians."

BROADWAY SPACE REVIEW:

"Faithful readers will note that I’ve been doling out positive reviews left and right these days. That speaks to the general high quality of Broadway as of late; I cannot recall the last production I saw that wasn’t at least decent. Yet, for all of my recent contentment, I’ve been waiting for one of those near-religious theatrical experiences—you know the kind I mean—where you can barely contain the ecstatic glee that is taking hold of your body, pushing you towards a breaking point where you want to stand up and shout “THIS SHOW IS AWESOME!!!” 13 is that show."

AM NEW YORK REVIEW:

"High School Musical,” meet the Middle School Musical: “13.” It’s younger, smarter and hotter than you are.."

NEW YORK POST REVIEW:

"I can't remember the last Broadway musical with a big Torah number. Then again, I can't re member a leading man six years shy of legal drinking age. All that (and more) adds up to "13," the disarmingly charming new musical that opened last night."

VARIETY REVIEW:

"In case anyone missed the lesson learned from "High School Musical" and its endlessly multiplying spawn, kids these days are quite comfortable watching their fictional counterparts burst into song to express their feelings. So the target audience for "13" should have no trouble identifying with the characters onstage as they tunefully reflect on friendship, crushes, popularity, acceptance and tongue action."

STAR LEDGER REVIEW:

"The attraction that premiered yesterday at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre is humorous and optimistic as its adolescents bounce along to a happy beat."
